Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does Sylvan Leash offer pet daycare or pet boarding?

A: No. Sylvan Leash does not have a physical location to provide pet daycare or pet boarding services. Sylvan Leash pet sitting services are provided to the client and their pet(s) in their home, by me - Tirzah.

Q: How do I request a service estimate or schedule a "meet and greet?"

A: Clients can Contact Me any time to request a service estimate or schedule a "Meet & Greet." Both service estimates and "Meet & Greets" are offered at no cost or obligation to customers.

Q: Why are service estimates and "Meet & Greets" provided free of charge and at no obligation?

A: Let's face it - not every pet sitter is a good fit for every pet:

  • Schedules, needs, and services between potential clients and service providers don't always match.

  • Pets don't necessarily like every person they meet, and I might be one of them! (This hasn't happened yet, but you never know.)

  • Budgets and expectations differ from person to person.

This isn't anyone's fault; it's just reality and no one should pay a price for it - especially not you and your pet. That's why Sylvan Leash always offers free service estimates and "Meet & Greet" sessions.

Q: What is a "Meet & greet?"

A: A "Meet & Greet" is an opportunity for you, your pets, and me to meet and get to know each other before booking your first service. Typical "Meet & Greet" sessions last about 30 - 60 minutes, but can last longer for clients with multiple pets or pets with special needs.

"Meet & Greets" can be scheduled at your convenience in your home or at a neutral, public location like a dog park or pet-friendly cafe.

I offer up to 3 free "Meet & Greet" sessions prior to your first service to help you and your pet(s) get to know me and Sylvan Leash before we spend time at home without you.

Q: Why is a "Meet & Greet" required before my first service?

A: I would not feel comfortable entering your home or caring for your pet without you first introducing them to me. And neither would you or your pet(s)!

"Meet and Greets" are an important opportunity for all of us to get to know one another, chat, ask questions, and determine if Sylvan Leash would be a good fit as your preferred pet sitting service. Contact Me to check availability and schedule today!

Q: How do I schedule my first service with Sylvan Leash?

A: Simply Contact Me and I will let you know if the service you'd like to schedule is available for the date/time you request. If so, we will also schedule the required face-to-face "Meet & Greet".

During the initial "Meet & Greet," I will provide you with an overview of my services, ask questions about you, your pet, and your home, and answer any questions you have about me. I'll also provide you with a General Services Agreement to review.

If you decide that Sylvan Leash is the best fit for you after the first "Meet & Greet," I'll create a client file for you and your pet(s) and send it to you for review. Once your paperwork is reviewed/completed, and you return a singed General Services Agreement, you're all set for your first (and any additional) services with Sylvan Leash!

I will keep your information on file with Sylvan Leash until or unless you provide a written (mailed or emailed) request for me to delete it.

Q: What payment methods does Sylvan Leash accept?

A: Sylvan Leash accepts the following payment methods:

  • Cash

  • Check (made payable to "Tirzah Harper")

  • Venmo (@sylvanleash)

  • Zelle

Payment is due upon service completion. Clients receive an invoice via email that outlines these payment methods and includes payment instructions.

Q: Do I tip my pet sitter?

A: Sylvan Leash accepts gratuity, but it is not expected.

Q: Is Sylvan Leash Insured?

A: Yes. Sylvan Leash has business liability insurance through Business Insurers of the Carolinas. Certificates of Insurance are available upon request.
